Copyright Information
You may make as many copies of the music you download from this site as you need for non-commercial use. In addition to personal use, the music may be used free of charge in church, school and other choirs. You may download the MP3s available on this site free of charge. You are welcome to burn them to CD for personal use. All rights are reserved, including the creation of derivative works (arrangements, etc.).
This is not the case with all (perhaps most) music. Be sure to read the
copyrights on any music you wish to copy.
Copyrighted music may not
be copied or arranged without permission.
Music that is "out of print"
but still under copyright may not be reproduced without permission.
Most of the hymns in our
current hymnbook and children's songbook may be copied, but there are some
which have been included in these books by permission. These may not be
copied.
Photocopying music for "one-time"
use is illegal (even if you throw the copies away after you use them), unless you have permission from the copyright owner. Publishers
will generally allow "emergency" copies while you are waiting for an order,
but ask first!
Music that is copyrighted
by the Church can usually be photocopied for non-commercial home or church
use, but read the copyright first, and then, if in doubt, call the Church
office of Copyrights and Permissions at (801) 240-3959. They can also provide
you with further information on copyright law and how it affects what we
do in our Church organizations.
Individuals who break copyright
laws may be sued, and if they are associated with church organizations the church may be sued as well. Besides,
it's just plain not nice to infringe on someone's copyright. Lots of folks
make a living with the music they publish. Photocopying their materials
is like shoplifting. Read the copyright, and when
in doubt, don't!
