Sally, our ward is down to a single organist and pianist who can play for the choir. Do you have a two-hand piano arrangement to go with the organ playing from the hymnbook? My choir director does NOT really read music and imagines every piece as if we have the Orchestra at Temple Square at our beck and call. It is immensely frustrating.

I also play for the Primary and sometimes Sacrament Meeting (on the piano) when our organist is out of commission. I don’t have a sub readily available who could play at this level.

BTW, our organist and I also sing soprano when we are not playing. That means two voices are gone for these dual instrument pieces. I am sure our ward isn’t the only one who struggles to get enough voices/instrumentalists for their Christmas and Easter services. Please, do us a favor and make an adjusted arrangement.

Thank you for this! I played this with my daughter and my husband, and it was fantastic! It was also super fun to practice and learn it together. I’m back now looking for more duets 🙂

Does the organ play the 7 verse introduction along with the piano accompaniment? Or does the organ only come in on the first verse?

I believe that this year will be the 6th time I have used your lovely rendition in our Ward Christmas Program. Everyone loves singing it with piano, organ and sometimes violins and cello.
