Jesus, Lord, at Thy Birth
…love’s pure light radiant beams from thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
(Silent Night).
About the Song
The title, and first and last lines of this song are based on the very last line of “Silent Night.” Which hymn, if you couldn’t tell, I really love. it has *four* (and counting) entries on my songlist. Think that’s enough? 😉
This song is a part of the “Silent Night” Christmas cantata.

Lyrics
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth
The heavens are singing a lullaby
Legions of angels are watching nigh
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth
Not a cradle is found for thy bed
But a manger of hay in its stead
Where the cattle may feed
Must suffice for thy need
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth
The shepherds adore thee on bended knee
Wise men shall hasten to worship thee
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth
Neither silver nor gold crowns thy head
But thy Father hath crowned thee instead
With his glory and light
With his mercy and might
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth
With shepherds and wise men we seek thy face
And join with the angels to sing thy praise
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth
Not the treasures of earth do we bring,
But to honor thee, Savior and King
Now and ever thou art
Enthroned in our hearts
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth

I am a big fan and have been for years. I am a singer. My wife is a wonderful accompanist. We both love your work.
We are having a Stake Christ-Centered Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 11. We have asked each unit in our stake to provide a ward choir for the event. Along with a few special numbers mixed in, this is going to be a marvelous event.
Without any coaching from me, six of the eight wards who are participating are singing one of your songs/one of your arrangements. The grand finale will be all singers (we should have about 160 singers) singing “Guard Him, Joseph” and then we will modulate into your fabulous organ, piano, and C instrument (violin in our case) arrangement of “Away in a Manger”…joined by the congregation. I am so excited!!!
If you are not busy on December 11 (I know better.) you are invited to the Emmett Idaho Stake Christ-Centered Christmas Concert.
You are blessing many lives by sharing your gifts.
Thank you.
Is this available in a higher key? Thank you!
Such a beautiful song!! Is there any way to get a copy of this in the key of G?
How beautiful and soothing to a believing ear, thank you.
You have a heavenly gift and talent! Thank you for sharing it throughout the world.
I love your song, Jesus, Lord at Thy Birth, and am writing a history of Christmas Carols for our Christmas Eve service. Is there a special story behind your writing of the song? It would be nice to include information about a recently written carol.
The title and first line were inspired by the final line of “Silent Night.” Other than that, there’s not really much back story for this one, other than Christmas itself of course!
Hello Ms Sally, I cannot convert into mp3 this piece Record is hided .. how can I have a minus one or instrument copy for this piece? thanks and more blessings from the Lord Jesus Christ..
Thank You! I was searching for Christian Christmas music for a young soloist with an outstanding voice. I found two selections very appropriate for our Christmas Eve service. “Jesus, Lord at Thy Birth” and “An Angels Prayer”. Very nice…I can hardly wait. Thank you so much.God bless you!
I just wanted to join others who have the need to thank you for sharing your talents with those of us who have not. Having your wonderful music available to all of us makes life so much easier when we have the responsibility of preparing programs for church that require music. We merely pull up your website and there is pretty much all we need! May the Lord continue to bless you and your family for your generosity.
Thank you, Diana! That’s so kind of you!
