He is Risen from the Dead

About the Song

This song is part of the Jesus, Once of Humble Birth cantata.

Lyrics

Then came the women to the sepulchre
At the dawning of the day
Found not the body of the Lord,
And stood in wonder and dismay
And the angel of the Lord came down,
And words of joy and comfort spake

Ye seek the Lord, within ye shall not find him
He is not here, but risen who was crucified
Why seek ye then the living here among the dead?
Enter in and find him not!
He is risen as he said;
He is risen
Risen from the dead.

They entered in and saw the empty tomb,
For the stone lay rolled away
They saw the angel and, with fearful hearts,
The place the body lay
And the angel answered unto them,
I know whom ye seek, be not afraid.

Ye seek the Lord, within ye shall not find Him
He is not here, but risen who was crucified
Why seek ye then the living here among the dead?
Enter in and find Him not!
He is risen as He said;
He is risen
Risen from the dead.

    I love your choral music sheets but it would be better if you included the chords and transpose to D as our Guitarist is not used to play E flat chords otherwise I am a frequent user of your hymns. Kindly transpose He is risen from the dead to D

    This is not the first time I write to praise Sally DeFord’s God-given talent. She has become our favorite anthem composer because her music is just beautiful and fit for the angels to sing. I have been a choir director for more than 50 years and even though I am retired, I am still directing a choir as I have been “plucked” from my retirement by our Lord, to help out a church that had lost its choir director

    Again, we love Sally DeFord’s anthems. May the Lord continue to bless you with His heavenly creativity and inspire you as you continue to make music about Him — to His glory.
