And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger… Luke 2:7 KJV
About the song
The idea of experiencing childbirth for the first time in a makeshift shelter makes me shudder.
I had four babies… in four well-equipped hospital rooms. Even with every modern convenience it was exhausting, and I remember so well that the one thing I wanted most was the hardest to come by: sleep. The very last thing I wanted was a host of visitors. And we know that at some point not long after Jesus was born, angels were dispatched to shepherds abiding in the fields, summoning them to come and see the babe, wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And His mother.
I hope with all my heart that she had some time to rest. I hope it took the shepherds at least a few hours to find them. I hope that Joseph took charge of that long-awaited Baby, and let Mary simply sleep. I can’t imagine that such a kind, just, and brave man would do otherwise.

Lyrics
Hush the baby while His mother,
Maiden Mary, sweetly sleeps
Let her pure unbroken slumber
heal her weariness with peace
She has borne Him in a stable
Better comfort had she none
Joseph, guardian ever faithful,
Cradle Mary’s holy Son
Even now the host of heaven
Comes rejoicing down the skies
Even now the shepherds hasten
to the manger where He lies
Hush the baby while His mother
Gathers strength for days to come
Joseph, guardian, like a father,
Cradle Mary’s holy Son
Weary journeys lie before her
In the quiet, give her rest
Let her starlit dreams restore her
Virgin mother, heaven-blessed
Gentle Joseph, ’til she wakens
and her respite’s work is done
Here is tender love unspoken:
Cradle Mary’s holy Son

I am interested in having “Hush The Baby ” transposed to Bb from the original C major. Is this possible?
