Star of Wonder
About the Song
This little solo was my Christmas Card Carol for 2013. I was late getting it done (as usual) and didn’t manage to get the score done in time to post before Christmas. So I tucked it away in a file marked “For Next Year” and it was almost forgotten even for the following season.
It’s another song about… the Christmas star. For some reason, I’m just fascinated by it. I wonder how long before the first Christmas that star had to be lit to shine out just at the right time? Or was it simply an immediate miracle? God can do either. And I wonder if it’s still there, quietly hiding among its lesser fellows.
Update 2019: I finally got around to doing an SSATB and a TTBB version. They’re now listed in the “Sheet Music Downloads” section. 🙂

Lyrics
What wondrous light dispels the night
and beckons from the skies?
While Jesus sleeps and shepherds seek
the manger where He lies?
A star ascends o’er Bethlehem and sets the world aglow
A symbol of the Father’s love to all who dwell below.
Chorus:
Star of wonder, burning bright
Lead me to the manger-side
Light that leads to endless Light
Shine upon my soul
What softer gleam of light is seen
descending on the air?
As Mary smiles upon the Child
entrusted to her care?
The starlight streams, the gentle beams fall softly on His brow
So heaven brings the newborn King a shining, starry crown
(Repeat chorus)
What wondrous light dispels the night,
when Christ is born on earth?
Celestial guide that leads the wise
to worship at His birth!
Now from afar, within my heart this pilgrimage is made
I kneel before the infant Lord who slumbers on the hay
(Repeat chorus)

Beautiful and so anointed and inspiring!
Would you be open to all or some of your words becoming a children’s book?
I now see the pdf music is freely available – this is unbelievable.
Thank you so much for this beautiful music!
This is a beautiful song!
Questions:
Is there maybe an arrangement of the chorus available in TTBB?
How do I purchase the PDF downloadable music score for male voice and the accompaniment track?
Thank you

This song is written so well!! It has the feeling of an old traditional Christmas carol. An instant time cherished classic!!
Thank you!
Thanks to you I have my 2015 Christmas music chosen! It’s a tradition for me if I’m directing the choir in my ward, our closing hymn for the Christmas program will be your arrangement of Silent Night. Thank you for all that you do to help us bring lovely, elegant music to our wards and stakes.

Love this one! Sang it tonight at a family carols and cookies service. I appreciate all of your music very much.
What a beautiful song!! I am definitely going to use this for the family and church programs I am involved in this Christmas!
Thank you so very much for your generosity of letting us use this music for free. So many people can feel the spirit through your beautiful talent!
Exquisite. Absolutely loved it!
I would love it if you could arrange this song for a choir. It’s beautiful
This is so stirringly beautiful! I have a son with an incredible voice who has struggled with his testimony of Christ but has always been willing to sing for me. I will ask him to sing this at Christmas time at the senior center where my husband and I are serving an LDS mission. It brought tears to my eyes just thinking of him singing the lyrics with his beautiful, lyrical voice. Thank you for your generous talents. I have utilized your beautiful music for many many years. Blessings to you!
