Praise to the Lord (Cantata)

“Praise to the Lord” is an hour-long cantata celebrating our Savior, Jesus Christ.

This program is voiced for SSAATTBB, soloists and piano, with optional scores included for organ, flute, oboe (or other treble C-instrument), and cello, and it’s somewhat challenging.

Most of the cello score includes only those passages where the cello needs to play a specific part. The cellist may follow the bass line in the organ score for other passages as desired.

There are five narrators for the program. Narrators 1 and 2 have most of the spoken parts. Narrator 2 sings solo sections in “Because He Spoke to Me” and “The Prodigal.” Narrator 3 is the mother of the child soloist in “A Place in His Arms.” Narrator 4 is a soloist with one spoken passage preceding “His Tears Were Mine.” Narrator 5 is a soloist with one spoken passage preceding “He is There.”

Sally I have been your biggest fan from the beginning. I have conducted choirs for the past 45 years and have used your music time and time again. My daughters and I even sang your “My Sisters Hands” at my mother’s funeral, changing the words to My Mother’s Hands! After receiving counsel about making Easter more central to our worship, our stake has decided to do a musical Easter fireside and of course I went to your site first. In reviewing your cantatas I am so impressed with how many could work to honor and celebrate Easter. I have a 80 voice choir who are a very good, sight-reading Stake choir. Here’s my question. Which, of all your cantatas that could work for Easter is YOUR favorite? Finally I just want to thank you for the gift you are to this church, providing and making available endless beautiful uplifting music. I am so grateful!!!

Hi Sally! Our stake is currently preparing this cantata for this upcoming Sunday. I have used your music so much since I became my ward’s choir director a couple of years ago. Your music arrangements are lovely, you are very talented, and your free sheet music is truly a fantastic gift. Thank you!

We are learning this in our Stake (Calgary, AB) for a cantata the last weekend of May and first weekend in June. It is beautiful. When we sang the “God Will Provide A Lamb” the first time, I couldn’t sing. I was trying to control the :'(. Thank you for sharing your talents.

    Sheri.
