A handy little tool for your toolbox. π
Jan 20, 2020
Here’s a handy little tool that I keep meaning to tell you about… and then getting distracted. (Squirrel??)
Its function is super simple, but I’ve used it more than I expected. It’s called “Tempo Tapper.”Β The page looks like this:
Yup. That’s it.
It has one purpose only: you tap the button with your mouse and it tells you what tempo you’re tapping.
It’s pretty useful for coming up with those finicky metronome markings, finding out how fast I recorded a track, or determining the tempo of my favorite renditions… without the bother of all that thunder.
Happy 2020!

Actually a question: do you know where/how I could find some hymns from the OF A hymn book transposed into different keys?
I would so love to sing some as solos in Sacrament meeting, but my vocal range requires transposed accompaniment.
Thank you so much for the TONS of music you share with all of us!
Thanks, thats a new one for me
Hi Sally. Love your music! Thanks so much for making our choir awesome. I need to make some small modifications for our choir to I Stand All Amazed, so I got the Personal Composer Demo fired up on my Mac (using an emulator called Wine). That worked just fine as did opening the file, however I was sad that export is grayed out, and their program seems abandoned. What options does the pro version of their program have for export? I would love to bring it into Sibelius without fighting with Photoscore, but no one seems to support the .pc file format. Thanks for checking!
Thanks Dave! Yup… they closed their doors in 2014. They had quite a rough history, and I’m not surprised that they decided to pack it in. So sad. I’m glad it will work on the Wine emulator. There aren’t a lot of options for export even in the Pro version. There’s standard MIDI and .nif, and that’s it. They never did do XML exports–they did *imports*, but it was a bit iffy. Photoscore may be your only real option if you don’t want to fuss with it in the Personal Composer demo.
Thanks for your reply! I looked and .nif is actually a graphical format much like tiff, so it is not going to help much either. I have converted a few of your songs to Sibelius in the past using Photoscore Lite. If I do a decent job of any I’ll send them your way in MusicXML format if you like. Thanks again!
Sounds good!
