Merry Christmas 2019: Nostalgia and Painting and Music
I love “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Okay, it’s nostalgia from my childhood. (My kids have nostalgic memories of hating it. Whatever.)
The scene in which Linus recites the account of shepherds keeping watch over their flocks and angels coming suddenly upon them… it just… grounds me somehow.
When I get caught up “in the thick of thin things” it brings my focus back to the center of not only Christmas, but of everything:
“For unto you is born this day in the City of David a saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:11
So for this year’s Christmas card, we have my artist friend Natasha Nashadka painting angels coming to the shepherds near the City of David.
Sorta.
Natasha always sees things I don’t, and it’s very cool. In her whimsical interpretation, she wondered what the angels were doing as they waited for night to fall and the Christ Child to be born. Hence the title, “Awaiting Their Call.”
I was charmed by both the idea and the execution, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you Sally. Thank you for allowing us to use and share the message of the Almighty. Here at Candleberry Chapel in Attelboro, Massachusetts, our soloist, and I have become quite attached to your wonderous arrangements of so many of your pieces. We have used your music to share His messages with the congregation for a number of years now. As Music Director, I thank you on behalf of all of us here at Candleberry Chapel.
Dearest, Wonderful, Sally,
Just a note to let you know that here in Sacramento, California at Pioneer Congregational United Church of Christ we love your music! On December 22 we sang “A Manger Filled With Love” and next Sunday, December 29, we will sing “InThe Bleak Midwinter” Your pieces are favorites with my choir and always enjoyed by our faith community.
Merry Christmas and blessings for the New Year!
I loved it! Thank you for willingness to share the gifts with which you have been blessed that we may use it to reflect His great light

Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents with us.
I’m a newly called Ward choir director and we sang “Midnight air, Away in a manger,” and “Silent Night” (with the congregation).
It was wonderful experience.
Thank you.
I love this music. It is a wonderful melody and song, and it is tender, but yet, powerful. Thank you.
